Feliz Filadelfia has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). The grant money, which is expected to be released in the next two months, will be used by Feliz Filadelfia primarily to buy a passenger van.
“Our intention is to use this van not only to transport our soccer and baseball teams to away games but also to schedule visits to places like the Philadelphia Zoo and the Camden Aquarium” said Feliz founder Jose Rivera. “The purchase of a van will be a game changer for us.”
State Rep Anthony Bellmon, PA (district 203) was instrumental in obtaining this grant. Knowing that Feliz Filadelfia needed a van, Rep Bellmon scoured state agencies for more than a year for possible funding sources and found it in the DCED.
Feliz Filadelfia will be using part of the funding for team expenses such as umpire fees and league registrations, and will also be sharing some of the funding with other respected Olney recreational organizations, the Olney Eagles and Sturgis Hornets youth football teams.
