On Saturday, February 25, city councilman Anthony Phillips and Pennsylvania state representative Anthony Bellmon, PA-203, addressed community issues with Olney residents at Feliz Filadelfia’s clubhouse.
Bellmon addressed issues affecting his district, and his desire to see more governmental support to help fund and develop commercial corridors in North Philadelphia. As well as funding to help create cleaner and safer communities, access to better education, workforce development, mental health, and senior citizens services.
Phillips talked about his efforts to provide safer streets, a more visible police presence, constructive community-police collaboration, better schools, stronger and cleaner business corridors, and a more responsive city government.
Audience members asked specific questions about child safety issues and the need for a greater police presence in neighborhoods to reduce gun violence, speeding, vagrants, and the illegal parking of large semi-trucks in residential neighborhoods.
Council member Phillips also shared his baseball experience as a former Olney Baseball Little League team member.
