The Feliz Filadelfia 18-under girls Softball team hosted Parkwood in round 1 of the playoffs on Monday night 6/6/2022. It was a beautiful night for Softball and the park was packed with fans from both teams. This was a great game from start to finish!

Feliz Filadelfia had a 4-1 lead going into the last inning (7th) and were 3 outs away from advancing to the second round of the playoffs but Parkwood had other ideas and scored 3 runs in the last inning tying the game 4-4. So, we went to extra innings with the international tie-breaker rule in effect.

Parkwood started the 8th inning with a runner on 2nd base who eventually scored the go ahead run when her teammate hit a double down the line. The score was now 5-4 Parkwood, who had been down 4-1 but found a way to stay alive. In the bottom half of the 8th inning coach Anthony and his girls had to make something happen to prevent their season from ending.

Feliz Filadelfia started the inning with a runner on 2nd base because of the rules. Batter A. Sannicandro came up to the plate and fouled a few off . The count was 2 balls and 2 strikes when Parkwoods pitcher made a mistake and let a pitch hang for A. Sannicandro who “Ripped one into the night” deep to left field and over the fence !!

Walk off Home Run !! Touch them All Angie … That may have been the biggest hit in your career.

In the end, the Feliz Filadelfia Angels won 6-5 and advanced to the second round of the playoffs which will take place tonight, Tuesday 6/7/22 at 6:30 pm at the Hammond Fields. They will host the Somerton Yellow Jackets who they beat 8-6 in the final game of the regular season. This should be a nail biter.

The concession stand was busy with people ordering food and drinks and the fans were buzzing. We also had our grill out for hamburgers. We hope to see you tonight!!
