The Feliz Filadelfia Angels (7/8) baseball team faced a very good Bridesburg team which had given us our only loss earlier in the season. Tonight’s game was to clinch a first round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Pitcher J. Santiago started for Feliz Filadelfia and threw 2 scoreless innings striking out all 6 batters he faced.

The bats were alive for the Feliz Filadelfia Angels tonight with 2nd baseman J.Gabriel hitting a triple to start off the game and the Angels took a 3-0 lead in the 1st. The hitting didn’t stop there. E. Vance hit a single, former Bridesburg player C. Fontánez hit a single and 3rd basemen Ethan with 2 hits, 1 single and 1 double. The Feliz Filadelfia 7/8 team took a 7-1 lead into the final inning.

With just 3 outs away from clinching a playoff spot and the top seed, Coach Rivera decided to go back to starting pitcher J. Santiago and let him pitch the final inning although pitcher J. Gabriel was taking care of business throwing 7 K’s.

With a 7-1 lead and the fans on their feet screaming “1 more out” pitcher J. Santiago sealed the game and struck out the side.

Feliz Filadelfia clinches 1st place with 1 game left in the regular season !

Parents and players weren’t done and surprised coach Jose Rivera, throwing freezing cold water on him as he was talking to the team about staying humble and congratulating them on their achievements.

Playoffs are set to start in 2 weeks and are TBD.
