After finishing the season with a perfect record of 11-0 with 102 runs scored in 11 games The Feliz Filadelfia Angels 11/12 year old team advanced to the Championship game on Wednesday the 28th of June.
There was only 1 team that stood in their way from perfection. Feliz Filadelfia vs Vogt Lightning was the game that everyone was waiting for!
The Angels jumped off to an early 3-0 lead and starting pitcher Yostin Cruz was having his way with Vogt’s tough batters striking out 5 in 3 innings.
Up 5-2 Coach Luis Rivera decided to go with pitcher Ryan Ceballos in the 4th inning in order to save Yostin Cruz for the last inning. Ryan had been outstanding all year long for Feliz Filadelfia but did not have his stuff on this night giving up 7 runs in the 4th. Vogt took the lead 9-5 and the Angels were stunned.
Vogt’s good pitching and good fielding stopped any hope of a comeback for Feliz Filadelfia . The game ended in 6 innings due to darkness and Vogt Lightning became the 2023 Champions of the 11/12 division.
Tears were falling from all of the Angels players eyes in disbelief but all the coaches and parents reminded them of the great season that they had and also reminded them that they were the youngest team in that division with only 5 starters being ages 11-12 the other 6 starters were ages 9-10 playing up in age .
