On October 12, about 100 persons participated in a prayer procession which started at the Feliz Filadelfia fields on Hammond Avenue and then continued along city streets for 1.5 miles to St. Ambrose Church on Roosevelt Boulevard. The event was organized by the parishes of nearby St. Helena’s Church and St Ambrose Church as part of the Faith and Blue program which is a national organization connecting police departments with local religious institutions.

The procession began with a religious service at the Feliz Filadelfia fields before the faithful embarked on their walk under sunny skies to St. Ambrose Church where another service was held. The procession was guided by police officers from the Philadelphia 35th police district.

It was heartening to see so many people come together in prayer for our city,” said Jose Rivera, director of Feliz Filadelfia.

Officer Robert Hoppe of the 35th police district said “It was a blessing to join St. Helena, St. Ambrose and clergy of the 35th district as one to help spread peace.”
