This weekend Feliz Filadelfia hosted our first fall soccer festival at Ziehler Playground on Saturday, October 19. It was a Saturday morning filled with fun games, book giveaways, raffles, food and a great family atmosphere. Through our collaboration with Street Soccer USA and Kensington Soccer Club, we were able to bring communities, families and friends together to support our young soccer enthusiasts as they expressed themselves in some safe and healthy competitive games.
Huge shout out to Coach Taz, our program partner from SSUSA for organizing an amazing event. Over 60 participants, boys and girls, ages 6-13 participated in the event this weekend from Kensington Soccer Club and Feliz Filadelfia. Together over 50 families, (100 attendees) from the Olney and Kensington neighborhood came out to create an event filled with some unforgettable memories that we were able to capture in some amazing pictures and videos.
The games were filled with lots of fun, goals and excitement, the participants and families had a blast! We even had Mickey Mouse,Donald Duck, and Goofy stop by for a special visit to watch a few games and cheer the kids on. Our U8 and U10 team came out victorious, winning 2 of their 3 games within their respective age group, with Kensington winning all 3 games in the U13 group. Even though the scores weren’t as the kids hoped for in some cases, there were no losers at this festival, just a group of friends, neighbors, families and communities, coming together to have fun and embrace the culture of this beautiful game.
